The Amazing Brain: Blending Old School and New School Ideas to Create a High Impact, Spaced Learning Experience

  • Leslie Mason, Sage Therapeutics,
  • Carolyn Kopchains, Red Nucleus,
  • Chuck Karvelas, Sage Therapeutics

In this workshop, Sage Therapeutics will present a case study in creating a spaced learning experience for a product launch curriculum, focusing on teaching disease state information. The learning experience blended old school and new school training modalities—including eCourses, virtual meetings, and an Amazing Race-inspired workshop that engaged learners kinetically (called the Amazing Brain).

The bulk of the session’s time will be spent on reviewing the Amazing Brain workshop itself—a strategy- and knowledge-based competition in which 18 teams raced around the meeting space to face off in a series of 4 challenges. These kinetic challenges—while fun—provided an opportunity for learners to practice retrieving the knowledge they learned during the eCourses and virtual meetings.

The results of this learning experience will also be shared, including any qualitative and quantitative measurements.

After this session, participants will walk away with a solid example of how to create a disease state related blended learning solution, as well as a case study in creating an innovative, engaging Amazing Race-inspired workshop.
