Many Life Science trainers and educators are familiar with Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership. Self Leadership (Ken Blanchard) has been an effective program to unite the individual contributor with their leader. Self Leadership lays the groundwork for the direct report to develop the right Mindset through Activating Points of Power, overcoming Assumed Constraints and Being Proactive—all in concert with having the Skillset to be a Self Leader. This program has been highly successful at Roche, and is currently being introduced to our Marketing and Customer Service Organizations. I believe this would be highly valuable information for the attendees of LTEN, who are often seeking ways to sustain and build on their current development programs. The feedback of the experience at Roche has been, “I now know how to approach my boss,” to “I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leveraging my Points of Power to get my development on track.”
I would like to give the attendees a glimpse of some of the components that have been highly-valuable at Roche, in concert with facilitating one of the activities for the total group.
